How to Send Additional Medical Evidence to the VA

Need help sending additional evidence to the VA? Here’s how.

Navigate to VA.gov

Tap “Sign in” in the top right-hand corner.

The “Sign In” page will appear. Choose your preferred sign-in method, sign in, and authenticate.

Once you have signed in, the “My VA” page will appear. Select “Check your claim or appeal status.”

Find the Claim for Compensation that you will be adding evidence to today, and select “View Details” for that claim.
tip

If you do not see the applicable claim on VA.gov, it may not be available yet. Keep checking back!

The selected claim’s details will appear. Select the “Files” tab.

The Files Tab page will appear. Tap the “Add Files” button.

A files navigator window will pop up showing files on your computer. (The appearance of this window will vary.)

Locate the file containing the evidence we sent you, and select “Open.”

Your document will appear, ready to upload.

Use the “Select a description” dropdown menu to select the appropriate description for your document.

Check the box stating, “The files I uploaded are supporting documents for this claim only” (required)

Tap the blue “Submit Files for Review” button.

A popup window will appear indicating that your file is being uploaded.

When your evidence has been received, you will see a message from the VA that reads, “We have your evidence.”
